Dr. B. Israel Yahuaca is a fellowship-trained orthopedic shoulder surgeon serving patients in Michigan City, Indiana. He has undergone extensive surgical training and specializes in treating injuries and conditions of the shoulder and elbow, as well as the wrist, hand and other general orthopedic conditions. Dr. Yahuaca also treats traumatic orthopedic injuries, such as fractures.

His expertise includes total shoulder replacement, reverse shoulder replacement, complex revision shoulder replacement, arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, complex rotator cuff repair, arthroscopic instability repair, and elbow surgery. In his practice, Dr. Yahuaca's number-one goal is to provide his patients with the compassionate orthopedic care they need to get back to their highest level of function.

After earning his Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences from the University of Illinois in Chicago, Dr. Yahuaca attended medical school at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria, graduating with his Doctor of Medicine degree. He completed a general surgery internship and his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia. Following his residency, Dr. Yahuaca underwent additional training through a shoulder and elbow surgery fellowship at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Tampa.

Dr. Yahuaca is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Yahuaca also participates in multiple mentoring platforms, and serves on scholarship committees, with focus on increasing the number of under represented minorities in medicine and in particular in the field of orthopedics.

When Dr. Yahuaca is not seeing patients, he enjoys spending time with his family, watching and participating in mixed martial arts, playing volleyball, doing carpentry, and sketching and painting. Dr. Yahuaca is also bilingual in Spanish.
